To day there are 12 years since a boy named David came into my life. No one was expecting him to arrive for another 3 weeks at least but he didn’t wait for the rest of the world to be ready.

I didn’t get to see him arrive into the world but instead I spent the next 30 months (or so) to getting to know him…. He was the most curious kid I have ever met… and his mommy and I used to joke about that and said that his first word was “why?” He was constantly asking questions but he didn’t just ask…he listened to the answers and if we couldn’t give him an answer about something he just asked someone else until he got his answer…. He asked his mom if she would teach him how to read three months after his 3rd birthday…. 2 months later he was reading…. and he was extremely proud of himself, especially because his sisters couldn’t read as well as he did….

David was two months from becoming 4 years old…. he never made it to that age… The thoughts of the “what ifs”….and “whys” won’t bring him back but…. I wonder what he would be like to day……
