..If I don’t leave comments in your blog will you still be my friend?
…or if I only leave ((((((((hugs))))))) or “way to go!” comments in your blog, will you still be my friend?
..If I don’t “talk” to you for a day… a week …a month… a yeah… or more… will you still be my friend?
..If you call me up on MSN, YIM AOL or ICQ and I am busy will you still be my friend?
..If I dissagree with you on something will you still be my friend?
..If I you tell me about something that is on your mind…or ask me for an advice… and I don’t know what to say to you other then things like; “I’m sorry you are feeling bad” or “I wish I knew what to say, but I don’t” or just give you a cyber hug will you still be my friend?
..If I post about something in my blog that you don’t agree with or something that you don’t like would you still be my friend?
..If I’d send you an e-card, a little something that I’d ask you to put on your website or blog as a token of my care for you, or even an invitation to take a quiz where I ask questions about myself would you still be my friend?
..If I forget your birthday will you still be my friend?
..If I don’t like everything and everybody that you like will you still be my friend?
…if I tell you I can’t call you up on the phone and talk to you using my voice will you still be my friend?
…if I tell you I can’t meet you face to face will you still be my friend?
If someone would ask me those questions I would say yes to all of them… and these are just the first few things that came to my mind….
What is a friend?
I will tell you….
It is a person with whom you dare to be yourself.
Your soul can be naked with him.
He seems to ask of you to put on nothing, only to be what you are.
He does not want you to be better or worse.
– When you are with him, you feel as a prisoner feels who has been declared innocent.
You do not have to be on your guard.
You can say what you think, so long as it is genuinely you.
He understands those contradictions in your nature that lead others to misjuge you
— Whit him you breathe freely —
You can avow your little vanities and envies and hates and vicious sparks, your meannesses and absurdities and, in opening them up to him, they are lost, dissolved on the white ocean of his loyalty
— He understands. —
you do not have to be careful
— You can abuse him, neglect him, tolerate him.
Best of all, you can keep still with him
— It makes no matter. He likes you.
He is like fire that pruges to the bone.
– He understands
— You can weep with him, sin with him, laugh with him
-Through it all – and underneath – he sees, knows and loves you.
A friend? — — Just one,
I repeat, with whom you dare to be yourself.
