We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam, through the rooms in a maze
Looking for something or someone, as we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other, we type all our woes
Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody, to type out our name
We want recognition, but it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt
In IMs we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships-but-why we don’t know
But some of these friendships, will florish and grow.
Why is it on screen, we can be so bold
Telling our secrets, that have never been told.
Why it we share, the thoughts in our mind
With those we can’t see, as though we were blind.
The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.
We can’t tell real people, but tell someone we must
So we turn to the ‘puter, and to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains
They are Friends Without Faces, and odd little names.

that poem struck a chord… nameless, faceless, unknown it seems so much easier to communicate. why am i afraid? that i just dont know. afraid if people knew, afraid they may judge.
there is peace in being anonymous. peace knowing that you are in control. that you can turn the computer off, delete the chat programs.
but i agree, some of my dearest friends i met online.
and im rambling. day by day, hour by hour, each is a victory in itself.
all the best
i enjoyed reading that poem, it was very good to listen to i reread it a cpl times. its true too, many things you feel you can say online than you would beable to offline maybe thats why we like it so much
I love that! where did you find it?
This is great, Gabriel. Thank you! 🙂
wow…thats just so ossum when i read it …it just made so much sense and a lot of people i meet online know exactly what im talkin about when i express myself…where did u find that? its ossum …
Wow… powerful 🙂
Love you!
But I do have a face… I swear I do LOL
wow, I read this poem a few years ago. I was very into chatting, and a couple of chat friends became really good friends, and one of them sent me that poem one day.
Thank you for sharing, it made me smile..
*hugs*
wow. that really hit me.
wowow.
the thing is though- I think the most spectacular part of it all..is putting a face to name, with pictures, and to those you reallys trust and care for, someday meeting them, if only once, if only for a little while. Because then all of a sudden you have a really person and real friend with a real face and a real name and a real identity, that knows all about you and your deepest darkest, and you have no fear. It’s nice.
take care, you.
