This is more out of curiosity than anything else…. but how does one go about tracking down, or find old medical records in the US… like from 1965 – 1967… or is that even possible??

If you know the Doctor or Hospital name, you can contact them. If you know the location you can sometimes find the information on the internet. Best bet would be to contact doctors, hospitals, schools, etc…
Thank you for letting us know where you were!! 🙂

Where should a person go to locate medical records when the doctor’s office is no longer in existence? I am referencing the Medical Arts Building (Dr. Richard Winnick)who is no longer in practice. Also, how can a person obtain such records to prove that year’s ago they were diagnosed with an illness which now has almost totally debilitated an individual. The individual is attempting to receive disability payments, but needs to prove that he was diagnosed earlier with a disease. Any direction you can provide would be appreciated. Also, what happens to Medical Records when a hospital closes. The hospital in question is the Highland Park General Hospital which used to be in Highland Park, MI but was torn down. Where do I look?
Dead end finding old medical records from 1973. I have been to both hospitals and they can’t seem to find any records. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is there anywhere I can look at medical records of parents that have died, or are termally ill? Many family medical mystreies!!
I have a simular situation of not being able to find my old medical records from the time I spent in Vietnam and was discharged. I became sick with Diabetes and was being treated by different Doctors. Now that they have changed the rules a little, I can apply for help with the VA. But I have to be able to prove that I was Diabetic within 1 year of my Discharge. All of my Doctors that treated me have died but one. I talked with him but he says he always distroyed the Medical records after 10 years. At that period of time I didn’t spend any time in a Hospital so I can’t search there.I hope you can give me some good advice.
